“Why don’t we take a nice seat on the lawn and you can tell me everything you’re pissed off about?” might be how an officer would invite you into Lhong Khot Police Station’s new outdoor complaint department on their lawn in Chiang Mai’s Phrao district.

The station has decided to set up a table and chairs under an umbrella where officers and citizens can chat and locals can lodge complaints and offer their opinions. The outdoor initiative, overlooking lush greenery and mountains in the distance, is part of a program to foster good relationships with local citizens, reported The Nation.

Since being launched recently, the outdoor complaint department is getting much attention, with locals stopping by to snap pics of the officers and scenery at the pretty precinct.

Since the new program seems to be going well, the department wants to add more tables and chairs so people feel free to stop just and sit or even have a coffee.

This particular police precinct is 60 kilometers from the city of Chiang Mai and it’s jurisdiction has about 4,600 people in it.

As another of their unusual initiatives, they have been offering free food and drink on Thursdays at both their office and their road checkpoint. They’re hoping this will create good feelings in the local community and that it will make citizens more open to helping police with investigations in the future.
