Thai police are confident that a human leg found floating yesterday in the Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River yesterday is that of a murder victim.

At about 11am yesterday, Klongsan Police received a report that a lower part of a human leg had been discovered in the capital’s main river, near Rakhangkhositraram Woramahavihan Temple.

The limb is believed to have been in the water for at least two days prior to discovery, according to Khaosod.

The forensic team from Siriraj Hospital that conducted an initial post-mortem examination of the severed body part revealed yesterday afternoon that they are more than 90 percent certain this is a homicide case.

They observed that the severed wounds are clean and concise, which implies that the murderer had to be extremely skilled with a knife.

The gender, ethnicity, and other details regarding the body, however, have not yet been determined.

Police are now checking missing persons reports — for both locals and foreigners — all over Thailand.

Unfortunately, reports of body parts turning up in the Chao Phraya are not uncommon.

In February of 2016, a gruesome case of multiple body parts found floating in the river dominated Thai media.

Police believe that the organs belong to a Spanish man who fell prey to a foreign gang.

A suspect has never been found in that case.
