A security guard called the police early this morning after a suspicious package – wrapped in black electrical wire and tape – was discovered on buzzing Soi Thonglor.
After being notified, Thonglor police sectioned off the area in front of Soi Thonglor 6 where the package was discovered and placed tires over it as a precaution. Bomb disposal techs were then called to the scene.
An initial examination determined the object was only made to resemble a bomb and posed no threat, according to Khaosod. It was simply an air pump for inflating balloons.
The object has since been brought to the Thong Lor Police Station for further examination. Officers said they would check CCTV cameras in the area to try to determine if however left it there intended to cause a disturbance.
Several calls to Thonglor police went unanswered this morning.
