Due to the overnight curfew effective at 10pm tonight, several public transportation systems announced reduced operating hours.

Starting today, all trains running on BTS, MRT and Airport Rail Link lines will cease operation at 9:30pm to comply with the mandatory curfew announced Thursday evening by Prime Minister Prayuth Chao-o-cha.

All buses – both air conditioned and non-airconditioned varieties – will run until 9pm.

The new measure also applies to taxis and motorbike taxis, who must not work after 10pm, according to Saksiam Chidchob, minister of transportation.

Saying it was necessary to combat spread of the coronavirus, Gen. Prayuth in an address to the nation said no one would be allowed to leave their residences from 10pm to 4am. Anyone who violates the curfew will face up to a THB40,000 fine and/or two-year imprisonment.

Another 103 confirmed COVID-19 cases were announced by health officials on Friday, along with four more deaths. That makes for 1,978 patients and 19 fatalities since January, though the actual numbers are likely much higher. It’s unclear what extent of testing is available, but daily updates of confirmed cases have been just over 100 for the past two weeks.
