The THB4.6 billion Bangkok Observation Tower is expected to open for public visits in three years.
The 4-rai (.39 acre) plot of private land that will hold Bangkok Observation Tower sits on the Thonburi side of the Chao Praya River in Klongsan district. The land, valued at THB198 million, used to house the Marine Police Division headquarters, and is a royal property managed by the Treasury Department of Thailand.
A private enterprise recently received permission to lease the land for the purpose of building the Bangkok Observation Tower.
In three years, the tower will become Thailand and Southeast Asia’s highest tower, the sixth tallest in the world at 459 meters, as well as a great attraction in the capital city, reported Thai PBS.
From the top of the building, the beautiful Bangkok skyline will be able to viewed for 360 degrees. Not only that, the museum in the tower will present the rich history of Thailand.
The THB1 billion annual revenues expected from the THB750 entrance ticket sales will be contributed toward projects in the local riverside community.
The Treasury will directly select the contractor and negotiate the construction costs while IconSiam Group will manage the project.
