By the end of this year, a celebration will be held for the completion of the renovations to the Temple of Dawn, or Wat Arun.

Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn announced, after meeting with the organizing committee, that a 10-day celebration of Wat Arun’s renovations will take place from December 27 through January 5, 2018.

Under direction from the Fine Arts Department, Wat Arun started undergoing renovations, specifically to its majestic pagoda, in 2013. Once that stage was complete, the pagoda had to be moved so that the base could be fixed.

The base renovation is due for completion in August, which is when the scaffolding surrounding the pagoda will finally be removed.

A tribute to King Taksin the Great, who ordered the last restoration of the temple during his reign, along with ancient cultural performances will be featured in the celebration. Additionally, there will be an exhibition on the temple’s history. Award-winning snapshots of the temple will also be showcased.
