Their attempt to sell draft beer might have fallen flat, but 7-Eleven is still busy diversifying what’s on offer at their convenience stores. The latest move? Banking services.

As of Oct. 31, customers of the Government Savings Bank will be able to deposit and withdraw funds at all 13,000 7-Eleven stores across the country, the bank announced in a press conference yesterday.

Bank president Chatchai Payuhanaveechai said customers will be able to deposit up to THB30,000 (about US$1,000) at 7-Elevens at any time of day. However, withdrawals can only be made between 8am to 10pm, and are capped at THB20,000 (US$616) per day.

While all transactions come with a fee of THB15, deposits are free for customers under the age of 20.

Weeradech Akkarapholpanich, vice president of Counter Service, an e-payment services company that will handle the banking transactions for 7-Eleven, said the company is in talks with other banks about future partnerships, Thaihoon reported.
