Student arrested for operating illegal beauty clinic

A university student was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly operating an illegal beauty clinic in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district.

Police searched Pulchala Clinic in the Terrace housing estate in Ram Intra Soi 65 and apprehended 22-year-old second-year student Nattachanon Pitakchaiyakorn, after a tip-off by a licensed physician whose name was allegedly misused by the suspect.

DSI chief Tarit Pengdith said an investigation found Nattachanon had posted an advertisement claiming she was a certified beauty expert on the clinic’s Facebook page and other websites. She also used a fake graduation certificate and license to perform medical services.

Police charged her with fraud, opening a clinic without permission and practicing medicine without a license.

Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong said 30 illegal clinic operators had been arrested since the crackdown was launched in September, the Bangkok Post reported.
