Strike a pose: Thai Karen boy featured in GQ Germany Louis Vuitton spread

A 14-year-old Thai Karen student made his fashion debut by modeling in a Louis Vuitton spread after he was discovered by GQ Germany during its shoot in his rural hometown.

“Kreaw”, the Mathayom 1 student who lives in Sangkhlaburi, the district of Kanchanaburi which borders Myanmar, has shot to fame after photos of him modeling for the high fashion brand circulated on social media.

It is rumored that Kreaw was discovered by fashion photographer Brett Lloyd, who noticed his authentic Thai look during the magazine’s shoot at the ancient Wang Wiwekaram Temple.

Kreaw said he went for a casting with the magazine after his classmate, who did not make the cut himself as he was too short, recommended he should give it a try.

While Thai netizens are happy about the big opportunity GQ gave Kreaw, the student told Thairath he was only paid THB1,000 for the job, which he gave to his mom.

An international modeling agency has since approached him for another modeling job. Kreaw said he will seize the opportunity.
