Shop your heart out at one of the biggest New Year Celebrations ever — right here in Bangkok

PRESENTED BY

We can’t help but smile at the insane amount of holiday cheer going on at OneSiam — from spectacular light displays to Insta-worthy decorations to eco-friendly festivities, that holiday spirit is buzzing all around Bangkok, but the epicenter is all right here at this massive event spread across Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery — and it promises to be one of the greatest New Year celebrations yet. Read on, then get your shop on.

Have a sustainable feast with farm-fresh produce from Royal Projects

We’ll start off with food, because, well, we love food more than pretty much anything. But just because it’s a feast doesn’t mean being environmentally conscious has to take a back seat. While some of you may have already noticed by now that the word sustainability has really taken off as a restaurant sales pitch, the agricultural products initiated by the royal family, Royal Projects, is proof that we can take this notion further than that.

This year, Siam Paragon is dedicating a whole month towards sustainability with the Royal Project Gastronomy Festival, an event that has gathered more than 37 restaurants to promote local produce with their limited edition menus exclusive to this event.

If you are one of those who value spicy food more than your gut health and general well-being, head over to Wang Jia Sha, a restaurant that specializes in Shanghai dishes that hails from Hong Kong and has more than 70 years of experience. Here, the chef sources black chicken from Royal Projects and fries it with a mountain of wok-toasted dried chillies. The dish has uncompromising dedication to Chongqing-levels of spiciness, meaning even the proudest of Thais might have to beg for a glass of milk from the first mouthful.

Take a whole bunch of festive selfies with these unusual Christmas trees and festive installations

If Bangkok’s smog earlier this year still scares you a little bit, this gigantic white Christmas tree might literally sweep that concern to the side. We aren’t exaggerating either, as you can see for yourself at Siam Discovery. Prepare to be blown away by the Clean Air Christmas Tree. Made out of multiple functional pinwheels, it doesn’t just make for a great backdrop in a photo for Instagram, it’ll ensure that your quest to snap the perfect selfie isn’t interrupted by free radicals, and you’ll get to feel the wind in your hair, too.

When you were little, did your parents take you to look at all the Christmas lights around the city? Time to continue the tradition, but let’s make it a little flashier, shall we? Head to SiamCenter where you will be greeted with a thousand filaments of LED bulbs on the towering Magical Christmas Tree — that’s not even the best part about this flashy tree, though.

Anyone who walks past can submit their well wishes and the message will appear on the panels of the tree — might be useful for those who want to surprise their romantic partner in oh, we don’t know, a marriage proposal, maybe?

If the weather isn’t being too kind on the day you’re visiting, fret not, as there’s plenty to see and do indoors too. Siam Paragon’s Dior Christmas Tree is another highlight that’s not to be missed, as the stunning structure will be accompanied by a chorus group who will put on performances from Dec 17 onwards.

In fact, there are several installations and characters hidden throughout the mall, ranging from Santa’s little helpers to other magical creatures as well. Let us know if you manage to find them all!

Catch these stunning international street performances by international artists

Let’s admit it: everyone loves beautiful and Instagrammable performances, especially if they’re free to watch. OneSiam never disappoints, as they bring world-famous performers to Parc Siam each year for your enjoyment, and this year is no different.

Starting from Dec 17 – 31, over 6 world-famous art troupes will travel all the way here for the NYE countdown show in Siam. Among these talented groups is Picto Facto, a group of French performers who will breathe life into a bunch of massive inflatable objects.

The vivid colours and geometric shapes of this performance promises a visual feast that both children and adults alike will enjoy. Those hoping to catch a show can look forward to two rounds of the eye-catching performance until Dec 21.

If you spot headless men walking by, don’t panic just yet. Those guys are also street performers that might have you well, laughing your head off once you get over the initial shock. They will start roaming around Parc Paragon on Dec 18-22. Each show will last for a respectable 40 minutes. Hats off to them!

From Dec 22 – 25, Art aficionados can’t miss Divas & Tambours, a French troupe which combines the works of famous artists such as post-impressionist artist Paul Cézanne and a leader of op art movement Victor Vasarely with its grand displays and intricate costumes.

Following the theme of magical journeys is Gueule d’Ours, another French troupe from Compagnie Remue Ménag, the same troupe behind the army of luminous bears and other flashy street parades that any Bangkokian would immediately recognize. The show invites the audience into the realm of magic that will surely lift your spirits this festive season. The show starts from Dec 26 – 30, and goes on for two rounds a day.
