Go Nordic under the stars at outdoor Bangkok film fest

Learn more about why life is great in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden when the Danes bring a slew of films to Bangkok this month for outdoor screenings. 

Five films will be shown over three days at the festival under the theme of “Nordic Happiness.” Why are they so happy? Why do these nations rank so highly in the annual World Happiness Report? Get a glimpse through films exploring Nordic culture, society, and nature.

The festival opens with Woman at War, a 2018 Icelandic-Ukrainian, comedy-drama directed by Benedikt Erlingsson about a woman living a secret life as an eco warrior, whose activism is interrupted by an intriguing family question.

Highlights include A Perfectly Normal Family, a Danish film inspired by director Malou Reymann’s own life. The film follows a young girl, Emma, who has a perfectly normal family. Everything changes when her father suddenly wants to become a woman. The story follows their struggle to hold on to what they knew while accepting that everything has changed.

The festival starts at 6pm on Nov. 11 and runs through Nov. 13. Tickets are free and available first come, first served.

All movies will be shown with English subtitles in the garden of the Embassy of Denmark on Sathorn Road.
