Thailand has been on the move lately, with traveling seriously picking up since the beginning of lockdown. Yes, that’s right. It’s time to grab your mask, your hand sanitizer, and your sunscreen because we’re giving you even more reason to finally leave the confines of your living room.

Starting this month until October, the Thai government is providing citizens with an extra incentive to travel. The government will subsidize the lodging, transportation, and food for those looking to travel outside their home province in order to bolster the economy. For most, this means being able to get away from the city to seek a breath of fresh air. (Ahhh, fresh air! We remember that.)

One popular destination is the breezy seaside town of Hua Hin. Hua Hin makes the perfect short trip for those who want to get away from the noise and nonsense of the city. Expect long walks on the beach while listening to calming waves crashing in. Visit the Hua Hin Night Market for late night snacks and pick up some tasty treats to bring back to your co-workers — well, they can watch you eat them on Zoom at least.

If you’re looking for a more adventurous and unique experience, then fly up north to Chiang Mai. Here you can escape the summer heat among the mountains, and the digital nomad hipsters. Go on a natural retreat and get back in touch with your spiritual side by visiting some of Chiang Mai’s famous temples and parks. Make sure you stop for some northern delicacies, especially known for their spices and sausages like nam prik ong and sai oua

Those that want to experience nightlife outside Bangkok should head to Pattaya. Pattaya has something for everyone, ranging from luxurious restaurants and rooftop bars to roadside party spots. You’re always able to find something interesting to do while being able to meet interesting people along the way. And remember, what happens in Pattaya, probably doesn’t stay in Pattaya, these days.

No matter where you choose to go, you need to plan your trip accordingly. More and more people are hitting the road, so make sure you book well in advance.

In addition to the government subsidy for travel, you can take advantage of Marriott International’s new country-wide Summer Dreaming sale. Starting in June until the end of August, save up to 50% at 42 different Marriott locations across the country.

Travelers who book a minimum of two nights are entitled to the discount along with a complimentary breakfast and a credit of THB1,000 per day; which you can use on hotel restaurants, bars and spas to further your experience at Marriott. Marriott Bonvoy members will also enjoy 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points.

Bookings can be cancelled without charge up to 24 hours before arrival, so don’t be afraid to be flexible. Make a reservation or find out more here. Go out there and take advantage of the deals while you can!
