The countdown begins to The Mall Group’s unveiling of its latest, and arguably biggest, venture yet: The Em District in Sukhumvit.
Set to be a one stop, world class shopping destination for both Thais and visitors, the megaplex consists of The Emporium, EmQuartier and Emsphere, and spans a jaw-dropping 650,000 sq.m.
To celebrate its opening, The Mall Group’s invested 500 million baht in a series of events lasting four months from March 27.
First is the Fashion Invasion, which officially launches The Em District’s veritable sartorial haven, home to 400 Thai and international labels (Tiffany & Co., 3.1 Phillip Lim, Balenciaga, FlyNow, Greyhound, Jeffrey Campbell, Kurt Geiger, MCM, Proenza Schouler, Franck Muller, Vans, Victoria Beckham… Seriously — you want it, they’ve got it).
From April 29, the spotlight will be on The Helix, where you can find more than 140 outlets serving both local and international cuisine.
For best Instagram capture, don’t miss the final major event: the World Extraordinaire, which features lit 3D mapping projected on a 3,500 sq.m. surface across The Emporium and The EmQuartier’s buildings. Execution’s by what’s been described as an ambitious combination of Thai and other international performers based in the region, whose work include Madonna’s concerts and the opening ceremony of the American Super Bowl.
“Events are fun, but when do I start spending?”
From opening day, folks.
Promos begin from March 27, starting with instant entry to win one of these four fantastic prizes —a Park 24 condo unit, Porsche Macan, Mercedes Benz CLS Class and Veranda Residence Pattaya Condo unit — each time you spend a minimum of 2,000BHT in a single receipt. This campaign will end on July 31, which means in coincides with the official launch of The Em District’s fashion portfolio.
Then there’s the second tier of promos, which ends a month earlier on May 31 — every weekend, leading brands will be giving away exclusive prizes, such as 24K Gold Elite I6 phones, Montblanc pens, MCM vouchers and luxurious watches.
There’s no deadline on the third tier, which offers deluxe seat movie tickets from the EmPrivé Cineclub and other great gifts for every 5 – 100BHT spent.
No deadline on the fourth tier, either, though this one’s exclusively for Platinum M cardholders. Every 2,000BHT spent gets you three coupons and the top spender wins themselves a paid four-days-three-nights trip to the United Kingdom for London Fashion Week.
“No card promos?”
We’re just getting to those. On March 28, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) account holders can claim cash rebates of up to 50 percent for a 10,000BHT minimum spend.
On March 28, Bangkok Bank is giving away tier Bangkok-Hong Kong tickets on Cathay Pacific for every 70,000BHT spent, and complimentary buffet vouchers for two at the Rom Sai Banyan tree for ever 40,000BHT spent.
For only two hours (10am – noon) on April 1, Kasikorn Thai Bank will offer gift vouchers to the early shoppers that spend 1,000 – 10,000BHT in a single receipt.
If you have a Citibank account, you stand to get Royal Orchid Plus miles and gift vouchers worth up to 5,000BHT when you come early on April 5 (10am – noon).
