We know you Coconauts are always on the hunt for something new in Bangkok. Be it a new place to visit, a new experience, or a different cuisine, you have your eyes peeled, and so do we. That’s why we’re delighted to tell you about a new place with an innovative cocktail menu, dinner selection, and a story behind it.

We’re talking about SUL, the new Korean gastrobar in Thonglor Soi 10. The word “sul or 술” means alcohol in Korean (already intrigued, amirite?). Thailand has been obsessed with all things Korean since…forever.. But oddly enough, nightlife in Bangkok hasn’t embraced Korean culture as much as our music and fashion has. Well, not yet anyway.

That’s where SUL comes in. It was started by a group of young entrepreneurs with Asian roots who honed their passion for food and drink while living and traveling around the world. They came together in Bangkok to create a new, modern Korean dining experience that touches all 5 senses and pushes the boundaries of cocktails, cuisine, and concept.

SUL has a cool lounge vibe so it’s perfect for starting off the night with dinner, tapas, and drinks. As the evening wears on the ambiance changes from chill pre-gaming to a party, thanks to some subtle mood lighting and a middle area that’s perfect dancing and mingling.

The sophisticated drinks and food are K-town approved and inspired by “deconstruct and reconstruct” — which means they deconstruct the contemporary elements of Korean cuisine and reconstruct it to give you a modern experience like no other.

Unique cocktails like the Sansachun Sangria (aged rice wine, mixed fruits, elderflower) and Yakgwa Sour (bitter foam, honey lemon, ginger extract) are mixed by award-winning mixologist Fabio Brugnolaro. Feeling adventurous? Try the Last Man Standing (Korean ginseng, vanilla, spices).

The tapas dishes blend comfort food with nods to other cuisines, and, of course, traditional Korean ingredients. Think Kimchi Risotto, Seared Spam Balls, and Haenyeo’s Salad, which features octopus, citrus, and mango. Soon, look out for a K-BBQ menu and a Tomahawk menu served with fresh vegetables, seaweed butter, garlic butter, Korean sesame oil dipping sauce, kimchi, Mala sauce, jalapenos, and Ssamjang-korean spicy dipping sauce.

Are you drooling at this menu of “contemporary yet modern” Korean yet? So are we. But before you head on over there, we have some news for you.
