I ate this soy milk cheesecake 2 months ago. I’m still thinking about it.

Can’t say no to good soy, I say.

Two months after I went to a random Japanese restaurant in Silom, I cannot stop thinking of one item it served: Tonyu Cheesecake, or Soy Milk Cheesecake.

While most of the savory dishes at the Suikin Japanese Restaurant did not meet my expectations – not so tasty and relatively pricey – I discovered satisfaction in the last thing ordered.

Coming on a small plate perfect for one (if you are not willing to share), the first bite will take you straight to heaven. I admit, I suck with words when it comes to describing food, so bear with me here: It was melt-in-the-mouth soft, light and sweet, but not too sweet. It’s the fragrance of soy exploding in your mouth. And next thing you know, you say, “Mmm-mmm. I. Want. More.”

The soy milk cheesecake.

The treat is priced at a totally worth it THB90. I dare you all to try, whether you’re vegans, vegetarians, or just a carnivore with an open-mind.

And it hit me why one couple at the table next to me came in to dine for only 15 minutes. Nope, they did not order any other dish. No sushi, no sashimi, no nabe hotpot, just the soy milk cheesecake.

So now I urge you to go try the soy milk cheesecake I can’t stop ranting about.

Love it? Thank me at chayanit@coconuts.co. Hate it? Just email bangkok@coconuts.co. The restaurant is Suikin on the 22nd floor of the Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park.
