It’s getting hot out there, and that’s enough of an excuse to treat yourself to a high-end ice cream sandwich.

Craving a frozen dessert and baked tasty at the same time? Then stop what you’re doing, because it’s ice cream sandwich time! Sure, people could rummage through a freezer of burnt junk at 7-Eleven, but a number of Bangkok’s favorite high-end eateries are dabbling in this exotic art.

The not-so-classic dessert is currently enjoying a surge of popularity that’s sure to grow now that the mercury is rising.

If you haven’t been to their Emquartier branch, then you are missing out on a delicious cookie bar. Customers can make their own ice cream sandwich here by choosing the cookie (brown butter or black cocoa), picking an ice cream, and adding toppings like butterscotch, pretzel, or have it dipped in chocolate. Some of the popular flavors here are Seasalt Almond Ice Cream Butterscotch (THB150), Burnt Caramel Pretzel (THB150), and Fresh Milk Ice Cream Chocolate Dipped (THB155).

At Yora, you can never get bored. Known best for churning out the most unusual flavors, this delivery-only ice cream shop is offering a variety of flavors on the ice-cream sandos (THB145/piece). Think, berry cheesecake, vanilla marshmallow, matcha cream cheese, and their beloved caramel banana.

Apart from being popular for its bean-to-bar chocolates, this Thai chocolate brand is rolling out a yummy chocolate sorbet from Thai single origin chocolate (THB140) sandwiched with almond flour sablé Breton and crunchy cacao nibs.

Peppina

Inspired by the iconic three-layered Neapolitan ice cream, Peppina launched its seasonal ice-cream sandwiches that resulted from a collaboration with Michelin starred Chef Saki Hoshino of Yora and Samlor. The treat uses 100% coconut cream, organic mulberries from Chiang Mai and coconut and mulberry flavored ice cream sandwiched together between chocolate cookies (THB275/piece) thanks to Kad Kokoa’s Chumphon-hailing dark chocolate.

The so-called Bangkok-Naples ice-cream sandwich is available until April only at Peppina’s Sukhumvit 33 branch.
