Great beans and art bring aroma and taste to Ekkamai cafe ‘A Keen House’

Opened recently in a small alley off Soi Sukhumvit 40, A Keen House does not only offer coffee and pastries – it’s also a hub for art exhibitions and workshops.

The spot rotates premium coffee beans seasonally. Currently, the highlighted single-origin bean is the bright and floral Kenyan Muranga AA washed process beans. For the blends, they include beans picked from the country’s northern provinces Lampang and Nan while those from abroad are on the offer as well such as beans from Brazil’s Santos and Myanmar’s Shan State. The prices are THB120 for cold brew and THB150 for white and black coffee.

There’s also a selection of special teas, like honey rosemary iced tea (THB120), as well as a range of artisanal goods and fresh-baked bread made using natural yeast and a long-fermentation process each morning.

Get some sourdough (THB90), ciabatta (THB60) or brioche (THB90) — or a classic croissant (THB95) — to pair with your drink, then grab gourmet spreads like British-style bacon cheddar (THB180 for 100ml), truffle aioli (THB180 for 100ml), or French onion (THB140 for 100ml) to drizzle on your bread at home.

Apart from food and drinks, the space, decked out in earthy hues and interiors that represent the owners’ “keen” love for nature and modern aesthetics, offers room for artists to explore.

On the second floor, visitors can check out works from up-and-coming artists and, on the third floor, get creative at one of the regular workshops.

Currently, the cafe is running its so-called “Knock the Door Project” — in other words, delivery. Try the hand-crafted coffee and artisanal goods by ordering via Lineman.

A Keen House is located on Soi Sukjai off Soi Sukhumvit 40 and can be reached by taxi from BTS Ekkamai. It’s open 9am to 4pm every day except Tuesday.
