When weekend parties are echoing like techno EDM music in your head, you know it’s time to class it up a notch with a sophisticated evening of cocktails, or even (dare we say) mocktails. On that note, we’re proud to introduce you to a new location on the list of Bangkok’s favorite bars. It houses impressive cocktails and a gorgeous sunset view overlooking Asoke — Bangkok, meet 1826 Mixology & Rooftop Bar.

On the side note, if you read till the end, there’s a surprise twist to reward your patience.

The name 1826 doesn’t carry a cliché century-long heritage, instead the name is a formula of the location, where it’s been standing for the past 25 years. ‘18’ is for Sukhumvit Soi 18, and ‘26’ is the 26th floor of Rembrandt Hotel & Suites. Pretty clever way to make sure you never forget where your favorite cocktails are located, right?

Led by head mixologist Stephen Pinto, 1826 offers a unique take on classic drinks — clever combinations and high-quality house-made ingredients presented in a stunning way (no boring drinks here). And it’s all in an open-air, semi-outdoor ambiance with a menu of soul food from Rembrandt’s signature restaurants, Mexicano, Da Vinci, and Rang Mahal. Some of the elevated bar bites that go well with 1826’s cocktail infusions include butter chicken pizza, mussel salsa, jalapeno poppers, and grilled sea bass skewers.

Rest assured that all drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are conceptualized by head mixologist Stephen Pinto, whose talent has taken him all over the world. Prior to his arrival at 1826, he was in Dubai sharpening his flair for bartending and curating cocktail menus amid world-class masters of the mixology.

Now that your curiosity is piqued, what should you order at 1826?

To counterbalance the hot weather, we suggest Flora for anyone who is in desperate need of a cool down. For those who can’t decide between a post-dinner dessert or a refined drink, get both! Order the Tiramisu Martini, just don’t underestimate its silky smooth appeal — you might want a second.

Don’t worry if you’re favorite classic cocktail is missing from the menu. Although 1826 is all about innovative concoctions, these the usual suspects like Margaritas, Negronis, Mojitos or Cosmopolitans can be ordered upon request, and they’ll taste superb.

Come next Friday night or any night for that matter, and make your way through 1826’s list of signature blends and bites, on which floor again? (We just told you, silly!).

And ooh…don’t forget to make time for night-outs in March as 1826 is getting ready to host Gin & Jazz and Ladies Nights every Wednesday and Thursday — in that order!

Gin & Jazz Night: Sip away to 1826’s classic, or make-your-own gin and tonic listening to mellow tunes of live jazz bands — every Wednesday, 8pm to midnight.

Ladies Night: Ladies, you have the rights to have a good time — get a free drink and then enjoy the rest of 1826’s selected signature cocktails (at THB200++) — every Thursday, 18.26 to 1am.

Congrats on reading till the end, Coconauts! As we’ve promised, here’s a token of gratitude for your patience: simply show this article to 1826 staff to get a FREE cocktail (and who says nothing is free in this world).
