Cops suspect ex-husband in shooting on Rama IV Road

Cops believe the gunman who shot and seriously injured a driver on Rama IV Road early yesterday morning was the ex-husband of the victim’s wife.

Suvit Anannateechai 47, is in hospital receiving treatment for five bullet wounds on his torso and one on his hand, although his wife Suwimon Kwan-on, 41, escaped injury, Khaosod English reported.

Cops are hunting the two men who were on a motorcycle when they pulled up to Suvit’s car near Khlong Toei market and shot him six times through the windshield.

After questioning witnesses including the wife, and checking security footage, police identified Suwimon’s ex-husband, Puritchakarn Wongdee, as the main suspect who wielded the gun.

The man driving the motorbike is believed to be Panupong Chulathip, police said.

Suwimon told police that after their divorce she often argued with Puritchakarn, who works at Khlong Toei market, and that he also threatened her.

Arrest warrants have been issued for both suspects for attempted murder and gun possession.
