British family beaten unconscious after son ‘bumped into Thai’

Police have revealed that the brutal attack on a British family in Hua Hin over Songkran started after the son “accidently bumped into one of the Thai men”.

Officers have now arrested all four suspects.

Suphatra Baithong, Yingyai Saengkham-in, both aged 32, and Siwa Noksri, 20, were captured within days of the assault while Chaiya Jaiboon, 20, was apprehended yesterday.

The CCTV video footage of the family of three — a mum, dad and their son — leaving a bar in Hua Hin where they were reportedly celebrating Songkran on April 13 when they were attacked has sparked outrage in Thailand and abroad this week.

Pol. Col. Chaiyakorn Sriladecho, chief of Hua Hin police, said the elderly couple and their son were attacked because one of them accidentally bumped into one of the Thai men.

“All four suspects have now been arrested,” Pol. Col. Chaiyakorn, said Thursday afternoon.

“They say they are sorry and say they wouldn’t have done this if they weren’t drunk.

Lewis Owen, 43, a graphic designer who lives in Singapore, was with his parents — Rosemary, 65, and father Lewis Sr, 68 — on the evening of the assault.

The family has said they will never return to Thailand after the vicious attack.

“I’m not going back to Thailand again,” the son said.

“Mum and dad won’t be either. Never, ever again.”

Lewis required 16 stitches in three areas of his head after the attack.

His dad needed six stitches in his forehead and suffered heavy bruising and two black eyes.

His mother suffered the most serious injuries, undergoing several operations to help reduce swelling on the brain.

Both parents are “on the mend” and are expected to return to the UK next week, reported
