A 51-year-old woman was found dead at her boarding house (kost) room in Denpasar earlier this morning, with authorities now looking into her cause of death.

Denpasar Police spokesman Ketut Sukadi said the victim, identified as H, had stayed at the rented room in the past two months, which was located at a former red light district in Padang Galak Street, Kesiman.

The victim was reportedly heard asking for help before she was found dead.

“The victim was found dead on top of her bed. We suspect she died because of an illness,” Sukadi said.

Police said that according to a witness identified as N, she was taking a shower when she heard H calling for help. Afterwards, N went in to check on her and found that H was asleep on her side, but “was still alive” at the time.

N then gave H some water and left after the victim drank it. However, by the time N returned to check on her again, blood was coming out of her mouth. N left to seek help from local residents, but H was found dead by the time she returned.

“The body is being examined further at the Sanglah General Hospital,” Sukadi said.
