The rainy season can be brutal, and we were reminded of that over the weekend when heavy rain turned streets into shallow rivers, submerged houses, and triggered landslides.

Netizens took to social media to share plenty of content from the rainy weekend though the flood got so bad in several areas, such as Tabanan regency, that local residents had to be evacuated:

Officials said that the heavy rain caused landslides and damaged access to certain areas, while some houses were temporarily submerged. In Karangasem regency, a landslide reportedly claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman.

Though some areas evidently sustained more damages than others, most appear to be spared from the worst, such as in Jl. Raya Kerobokan, where the street turned into a shallow river.

The floods didn’t stop some people from having a good time either, as several videos making the rounds on Instagram over the weekend show some took to street wakeboarding while others decided paddling their jukung (traditional fishing boat) was a good way to spend their “flooded” weekend afternoon.
