Viral Video: Passenger pissed at Jetstar as family kicked off Bali-Adelaide flight

Footage apparently showing flight attendants escorting a family off a Jetstar flight as other passengers bemoan the situation from the peanut gallery is going viral.

The video, posted to Facebook on Wednesday by “pissed” Vincent Bamforth (who snidely narrates the whole thing), has been quickly getting shared on social media, with many commenters hailing Jetstar’s actions as a “severe overreaction.”

Other passengers on the flight have apparently backed up Bamforth’s position, while the airline has offered a very different account of the incident.

A post by Daily Mail has passengers claiming that two fathers in the group got the boot when they asked why they weren’t seated with the rest of their families.

“Two families were kicked off the plane last night at 10.30pm for simply asking why the dads were not placed near the families,” a passenger wrote, as published by the DM.

“The hostess complained to the manager hostess who then came and spoke to them about their behaviour and how a hostess shouldn’t be spoken to like that.

“Neither families showed any disrespect and the hostess and they still kicked them off the plane with young children over nothing. There are plenty of witnesses to say they were in fact not being rude and simply were asking a question.”

Meanwhile, words offered to the DM from a Jetstar spokeswoman put the blame on the passengers for refusing to get out of other people’s seats.

“We had customers board a flight from Bali to Adelaide overnight who had taken other passengers seats and refused to move to their allocated seats.

“The passengers refused to follow numerous requests from our crew so the captain decided that they would not travel on that flight.

“Like all airlines, our customers are allocated specific seats and we can’t have a situation where passengers sit wherever they like. This causes disruptions to other customers and delays the flight departing.”

The family who had been kicked off got rescheduled for a flight—free of charge—on Wednesday morning, but was responsible for their own accommodation, the airline told DM.
