VIDEO: Ubud bomb scare, Dutch man’s passport found in stolen bag containing low-explosive device

A Dutch tourist apparently got mixed up in a bomb scare in Ubud, Bali after his lost bag was later found unattended on Tuesday, containing a low-explosive device and a sign that said “bomb.”

A police bomb squad ended up detonating the bag and Bali police spokesman Made Sudana said there was no real bomb threat and the bag contained fireworks.

The unfortunate Dutch tourist, Mark Aart, was brought in for questioning by Ubud Police after his passport was found in the bag, but law enforcement deemed him a victim, rather than a perpetrator as Aart had earlier reported his bag missing.

Aart was ultimately let go and allowed to take his passport with him, Ubud police told Tribun Bali

Police suspect the actual perpetrator stole a foreigner’s bag to try and throw off law enforcement.
