A middle-aged Balinese man, allegedly drunk on tuak (local palm wine), caused quite a stir yesterday afternoon as he stumbled all over Jl. Pulau Batanta in Denpasar, brandishing a sword at passing motorists.
Raw footage posted on @denpasar.viral shows the man, identified as 44-year old “Nyoman T,” staggering in the middle of the road and disrupting the traffic flow while flailing his sword around.

Eventually, a fellow motorist appears with a large wooden batten, presumably with the intention of trying to diffuse the situation. However, seconds later, he’s captured running away from the man.
In a second video posted to @denpasar.viral, it appears that a group of local residents managed to disarm the man and pile him onto a motorbike, probably to take him to a nearby police station.

The man is currently undergoing questioning by the West Denpasar Police. In his statement, he said he was intoxicated after drinking tuak, and had felt offended by someone, though he couldn’t remember who.
“So this perpetrator was drunk and he said he wanted to fight with someone he didn’t know,” said a police source to Nusa Bali.
Police haven’t announced what they’re going to charge the man with yet, or if he will be charged at all.
