Underage sex worker stabbed by client because he couldn’t pay: police

Police in Denpasar said an underage female sex worker was hospitalized after she stabbed with scissors by her client after the latter realized that he didn’t have enough money to pay for their intimate session.

“After they were intimate, it turns out that the suspect couldn’t pay the amount they’d initially agreed on and so they got into an argument and the suspect attacked her using scissors,” said I Wayan Jiartana, deputy chief of the Denpasar Police, as quoted in a statement.

Authorities said that the victim, a 16-year-old girl identified by her initials RPH, and the suspect, a 21-year-old man identified as Prasetyo, had initially agreed that the meeting was going to cost the latter IDR600,000 (US$42.72).

However, Prasetyo only had IDR200,000 with him. He eventually stabbed RPH three times in the stomach, neck and hand with scissors.

Prasetyo reportedly claimed that he had the scissors with him because it was a tool he used for work. Jiartana explained that Prasetyo is a construction worker.

As RPH is still underage, Prasetyo has been charged with Article 80 on child abuse under Indonesia’s revised Child Protection Law, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Jiartana added that RPH’s recovery is going well, and that police will examine the case further once she is fully recovered.
