Bali Police have arrested two Indonesian men who have allegedly been working together stealing from foreign tourists.

The police began an investigation into the two men, who they identified as Ode and Agung, after receiving a report from a South African tourist on Monday, according to a report by the Jawa Pos network. The tourist said she had her belongings snatched while in Ubud by two men riding a black motorcycle.

The report also detailed what had been stolen, including a Huawei phone and an Apple iPhone, which led to police questioning electronic stores around the Denpasar area. It was later found that a man named Agung was looking to sell those types of phones, and the police immediately headed to his residence in Legian.

There, the police found the Huawei phone and arrested Agung.

“From Agung’s statement, he admitted to his deed and said he’d done it with another man named Ode,” Sr. Comr. Andi Fairan from the Bali Police said, adding that Ode was later arrested in Kuta.

Police say Ode confessed to having committed robberies five times around Ubud, and three more times in Tegalalang He said he also looked for victims in Seminyak and Kuta, with foreign tourists being his primary targets. During the interrogation, Ode also mentioned two others who may have been involved, identified as Alex and AA. Police are now looking for them.

“The suspect has admitted to having committed robberies with his friend Alex, five times in the month of March,” Andi said, adding that AA is in charge of selling the stolen stuff that has mostly consisted of phones.
