Two big topics of discussion at Bali Interpol conference: terrorism and illegal fishing

There’s a big Interpol conference in Bali at the moment and the two big topics up for discussion are some of Indonesia’s biggest issues.

Among these issues include terrorism and illegal fishing, according to police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar.

Terrorism is a central concern in Indonesia, especially ISIS, says Amar.

“The phenomenon of ISIS is not easy for us. Some our citizens have joined them, that affects our country,” VIVA News quoted Amar as saying on Sunday.

The 85th Interpol General Assembly is being held in Nusa Dua from Nov. 7 to 10 and is being attended by delegates from 167 different countries.

If you’ve been seeing more police in the area than usual, it’s because Bali has been beefing up its security action for the conference.

Opening the conference will be Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, while keynote speakers include Chief of Indonesian National Police Gen. Tito Karnavian and Minister of Maritime Affairs & Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti.
