Turkish men arrested in Canggu over ATM skimming

North Kuta Police have reportedly arrested two Turkish men in Canggu, suspected of card skimming.

Police think the men are part of a larger criminal network.

“We arrested them around 3 am at the scene. The two foreigners are from Turkey and are though to be a part of an international network,” North Kuta Police Commissioner Pius X Febry Aceng Loda said on Monday, as quoted by Tribun Bali

“They are suspected of being from an international network because their work is so professional,” he added.

Loda says that police received a report earlier on Saturday that an ATM located at Canggu Mart Echo Beach on Jl. Batu Mejan had died.

After checking out the ATM, a skimming device was found. Police say they found the suspects by waiting for the skimmers to come back to the ATM and access their device.

Both men are currently being detained by North Kuta Police and are under investigation.

Bali is a a hot spot for card skimming and has even been identified as one of the worst places in the world for ATM fraud.
