A handful of witness testimonies in the case of a murdered Bali policeman describe encounters with the suspects, Australian Sara Connor and her boyfriend, Briton David Taylor, during the night in question. There’s a lot of talk of blood.
The night Bali policeman Wayan Sudarsa was killed (August 16, 2016), Connor was denied a ride because she was covered in blood, a Bali motorbike taxi driver said in Denpasar District Court, reports AAP.
Ojek driver Gede Suartama told the court that he refused to take a woman who stopped in front of the Pullman Hotel in Kuta because she was covered in blood and he was afraid of blood. The woman, had been asking him to take her to a police station because she lost her purse and driver’s license.

Another witness, Zaenal, who owns a surfboard and umbrella rental shop, told the court on Wednesday that he saw Taylor, “covered with blood”, running near Kuta Beach. The British DJ was holding a flashlight and appeared to be drunk, Zaenal said.
In addition, the owner of the Kuta hotel where the couple had been staying, the Kubu Kauh, told the court of finding bloodied towels and bedsheets, as well as a trail of blood on the floors and stairway to the room, after the couple checked out on the evening of August 17.
The pair checked out around 7:30 pm that night, with Taylor explaining his “parent-in-law” had died, Kubu Kauh owner Putu Nita Agustini reportedly said.
Connor and Taylor are being tried separately and each face three charges: murder, torture and assault leading to the death of the policeman. The max jail term for the unpremeditated murder charge is 15 years behind bars.
