Tourists killed in Bali motorbike crash, allegedly drunk driving

A pair of tourists were killed in Bali when they crashed their motorbike into rocks on Saturday.

The victims, Emilie Martine Canet, 23, from France and Lovid Vincent Dominique Lazeyras, 23, from Switzerland, were driving their motorbike at a high speed when they hit rocks on Pererenan Beach at around 5 am on Saturday, reports say.

Police suspect that the two were drunk and that alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Friends staying with the pair said they had been drinking with Canet and Lazeyras until 2 am at their Mengwi villa on Saturday. But Canet and Lazeyras left around 4:40 am to buy another drink, Jakarta Post reports.

The victims are said to have died at the scene.

Following the fatal crash, their bodies were taken to Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Mengwi Police Chief Comr. I Nengah Patrem told reporters.
