Residents of Tabanan, Bali are apparently getting a special perk from having Ni Putu Eka Wiryastuti as their regent.
Wiryastuti is offering up her services as a “non-medical” (aka mystical) healer to her constituency.
After checking out a number of residents of her native Angsri Village in Baturiti on Sunday, the regent said a number of patients were suffering physical symptoms from non-medical ailments.
“A non-medical sickness is generally a supernatural illness (witchcraft or mystical poison),” Wiryastuti matter-of-factly explained to Merdeka.
Belief in such “non-medical” afflictions isn’t uncommon in Bali.
In addition to offering up her ‘magical’ hand, Wiryastuti also arranged a charity event of giving away groceries to 100 poor families in the local village, according to Merdeka. She really does seem to just want to help.
