Snake electrocuted in Ubud during electrical explosion

An explosion at an electrical substation in Ubud, Bali apparently caused quite a commotion amongst local residents and tourists alike.

But the craziest part is that a snake seemed to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“After checking on the electrical pole, we saw there was a snake wrapped around the electrical wires and its body had been partially burned,” Ubud Fire Department Chief I Nyoman Sudiarsa told Merdeka

Local resident I Made Kembar described the incident to Merdeka, explaining that it had been lightly raining when the electrical explosion happened. Sparks started going off between two electrical poles, sending people on the street fleeing, according to Kembar.

“I saw tourists running into the middle of the street, thankfully not into traffic,” Kembar said.

This isn’t the first electrical blast we’ve had in Bali in recent times, with an electrical box going ‘boom’ in Kuta just several months ago, in October 2016.
