The Bali police are investigating a case of an elderly man in Jembrana who allegedly sexually assaulted his 13-year-old granddaughter.
According to a report from Kumparan, the case is being handled by Jembrana Police’s Women and Child Protection Unit (PPA).
The elderly man, identified as MW by local media outlets, reportedly works as a scavenger. According to the victim, she was lured into a house used to store junk goods by MW, who had asked her to help him sort things in the house.
Inside, MW took the victim to a bedroom, where she was stripped naked and then raped multiple times. MW then kept the girl locked inside the room, while he went out to scavenge.
“The victim, fearful of being held captive inside a room, climbed to the attic to escape from the house. She then reported what happened to her parents,” a neighbor of the girl’s family told Kumparan.
The parents immediately filed a report with the local police, who proceeded to apprehend the suspect are currently questioning witnesses.
