Moroccan tourist dies in motorbike accident in North Bali, brake failure

A tourist from Morocco has reportedly died in the hilly Kaliasem area of Buleleng, North Bali after getting into a motorbike accident.

The scary part is that the accident involving Moroccan woman Sanaa Hissame, 26, is understood to have occurred because of brake failure on the Honda Vario that she had been driving—who else wants to get their brakes checked after this news?

“The victim had an accident due to brake failure and ultimately plunged into a ravine as deep as five meters,” Head of Buleleng Police’s traffic unit, I Gede Sumadra Kerthiawan told Antara Bali in Singaraja on Wednesday.

Kerthiawan said that the accident occurred early on Wednesday morning around 6 am.

He added that Hissame had been staying in Ubud and she was driving with a Serbian friend, identified as Wilijana Vujaklija, 38.

“Her friend is still alive, only wounded,” Kerthiaswan said.

Hissame, however, sustained severe injuries to her head and broke her neck. She was declared dead at the accident scene.

Based on eyewitness accounts, Kerthiawan says Hissame had been driving from south to north on the hilly and winding road. She allegedly lost control of the bike and swerved off the side of a cliff.
