Mandiri bank pushing to collect outstanding credit balance of Rp 187 billion from Bali customers

Indonesian bank Mandiri is ready to collect from customers in Bali who have apparently picked up on the credit craze.

The bank is targeting to collect Rp 187 billion in outstanding balances from Bali credit card customers by the end of this year.

Danil Morad, Head of Consumer Cards for Mandiri’s Bali and Nusa Tenggara divisions said that as of September 2016, Bali customers have wracked up Rp 187 million in unpaid bills.

“Based on the data we have gathered, the use of credit cards in our region has continued to increase significantly, especially in Bali,” Morad told Bisnis.com in Kuta on Wednesday.

There’s been an upward trend of credit card usage in Bali for typical transactions at supermarkets, department stores, cafes, and restaurants, according to Morad.

“Seeing this, we are also organizing various programs to attract customers using credit cards, ranging from spending programs to installment promos.”

Since the beginning of 2000 up through September 2016, Mandiri has issued 70,000 credit cards in Bali, out of 4.8 million on the national level, Morad said.

“Indeed, our new focus in Bali has been on the credit card business for the past three years.”

For the combined Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, 80 percent of Mandiri credit card transactions are in Bali.
