A holiday in Bali started out terribly for Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, but thankfully the footballer’s trip appears to have recovered with a happy ending after he announced his engagement in Bali this weekend.
Pictures had circulated of Smalling lying in a Bali hospital bed, all bloodied up, earlier this month. Despite talk being that Smalling injured himself while surfing, his English football club later clarified that the center-back had been hurt after passing out and falling when experiencing food poisoning.
No doubt referencing his hospital time in Bali, Smalling announced his engagement to long time girlfriend Sam Cooke over his Instagram with a picture of the couple and an elephant with the following caption:
#Bali will be remembered for many reasons but the most memorable moment was when a certain @samcookephotography said yes! fiance
Cooke posted an annoucement of her own about their engagement on her Instagram:
Congrats to the newly-engaged couple!
