Manchester United clarifies that fooballer Chris Smalling’s Bali ‘situation’ was food poisoning, no mention of surfing accident

Despite chatter of Manchester United center-back Chris Smalling having been wounded during a surfing accident in Bali, the football club has stated that their star is only suffering from food poisoning on the island. And fainting while having sakit perut, apparently.

The British football club posted an official clarification on their website that made no mention of any surfing disasters.

“Manchester United can clarify Chris Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday,” the statement reads.

He must have taken a hard fall down, because photos circulating of an injured Smalling online show his face got pretty roughed up:

“The 26-year-old defender was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine.”

The statement continued that Smalling is currently on holiday in Bali after Euro 2016 and will report back for pre-season training later this month—thankfully Smalling has since been released from the hospital and can enjoy the rest of his Bali trip before he has to get back to practice.

“Chris would like to thank everyone for their well wishes.”
