A man is lying in Sanglah Hospital with a pellet lodged in his neck since he became victim to his hunting buddy’s misdirected shot on Sunday.

Suena, 23, went squirrel hunting with his friend near Lake Batur around 6 am, when the Dick Cheney-like hunting incident occurred.

Suena’s friend was prepping the air rifles and was about four meters in front of him, apparently unaware that the gun was loaded.

“While pumping (the gun), his friend accidentally hit the trigger,” Suena’s uncle, Nyoman Subagia told Tribun Bali

The pellet was lodged right in Suena’s neck.

His friend rushed him to the public hospital in Bangli, but the hospital was reportedly “unable to perform the pellet’s removal” at the time, so they were referred to Sanglah in Denpasar.

Subagia says his nephew’s surgery is being prepared for and scheduled by a team of doctors at Sanglah. He also says his nephew and his friends often shoot squirrels in the morning, but they clearly need to be more careful when using their air rifles.
