Denpasar residents better watch out, the five-year cycle of our least-favorite mosquito-borne disease is almost up and the nasty virus is probably about to strike back.
Outbreaks of dengue fever have reportedly been rotating on a five year cycle in Denpasar, which makes 2015 the next big year, says P2P Head of Denpasar City Health Office, Dr. Ida Bagus Gede Eka Putra.
At the moment, Putra and colleagues are working to conduct early dengue prevention like educating the public and mapping out mosquito breeding grounds.
A word for the wise, beware of mosquitoes with the gray-stripped legs. You do not want to get bit by one of those bad boys during this next dengue cycle, or you can plan on sipping a lot of guava juice from your hospital bed!
