McDonald’s staffers yesterday found it was a dead body that was holding up the growing line for the restroom at one of the fast food chain’s locations in Denpasar, the capital city of Bali.

The upper level of the restaurant, where the restroom was located, had reportedly grown crowded during the afternoon, with visitors lining up for the toilet, which was locked from the inside.

After multiple customers complained about not being able to get into the locked bathroom, an employee broke down the door, only to find a dead man laying on the floor, says Astri Rohani from the marketing team of the Denpasar McDonald’s located on Jl. PB Sudirman.

“So, earlier, our customers asked why the bathroom door was locked. So our employee immediately broke down the door. It turned out that he (the victim) was lying in the bathroom,” Rohani told Tribun Bali on Thursday.

After the shocking reveal, an ambulance was called to the scene and the body was evacuated to the morgue.

The victim, who remains unidentified as of Friday morning, is estimated to be at least 40-years-old. An external examination found no wounds.

Employees from the McDonald’s say they recognized the victim, that he would often come to the restaurant just to use the bathroom, without ordering anything.

“The victim would just come here to pee, but he would never disturb customers,” Rohani said.

“He is mute, not able to talk. He would sleep from place to place. It seemed he was sick.”

Police say they are still investigating the McDonald’s John Doe, trying to determine the man’s identity and the cause of death.
