A raid on Kuta’s Boshe VVIP Club Bali did not find any narcotics on the premises, police told reporters.

A joint team of over 100 officers from Denpasar Police and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) swarmed Boshe on the early hours of Sunday morning.

“At around 1:30am, we moved towards the target, Boshe Club and Karaoke. The sweeping came up negative for drugs,” Bali Police spokesman Hengky Widjaja told Tribun Bali.

Five people from the club were made to undergo urine testing for narcotics, but they all came up clean, Widjaja said.

One Boshe employee, however, was secured after he was found to be carrying a sharp sort of weapon on a necklace, Widjaja added.

Boshe is located right on the Ngurah Rai By Pass, not far from the airport, and largely caters to locals and Asian travelers. The nightclub was found to be in possession of all the necessary business documentation and had the proper permit needed to serve alcohol.

As for its operating hours, police also found that Boshe did not violate any rules, running from 2pm until 3am—unlike West Denpasar’s Bibir Music Club which would conduct business from 2am to 10am. The little nightclub, Bibir, was sealed up by police a week ago after a raid turned up narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and a lack of proper business documentation.

Police have been conducting raids more and more regularly on nightlife spots around the island, looking especially to tap into Bali’s illegal drug trade.

A major victory for police was the closure of Akasaka, a large club in Denpasar, shut down in June when police found Rp 10 billion worth of ecstasy pills on the premises.
