Korean tourist missing after snorkeling at Kuta Beach

Police have not been able to find a Korean man who disappeared while swimming at Kuta Beach in front of Beachwalk Shopping Center on Wednesday evening.

“We are still searching for him,” Kuta Police Chief Wayan Sumara told Tribun Bali

The Korean man, KJC, 58, had arrived at Kuta Beach around 4 pm and was in a group of 25 tourists, according to Tribun Bali.

His group rented umbrellas and chairs on the beach. KJC went into the water, using a snorkel and fins, while two other friends joined him without any gear. After 15 minutes of swimming, the friends went back to the beach, while the victim stayed in the water. At around 5:15 pm, KJC’s absence was noticed and his snorkel was found about 100 meters down from where he had been swimming.

KJC had been staying in Kuta since Feb. 7.
