A 38-year-old Japanese woman reportedly jumped from the second floor of an apartment building in Denpasar yesterday morning. Police are currently investigating the case, while the victim is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

“There’s a suspicion that she might have been robbed, but we can’t confirm this just yet because the victim is still unconscious,” Denpasar Police Chief, Nyoman Wirajaya, told Kompas.com yesterday.

Local media outlets have identified the victim as Mika Hasegawa, and she was reportedly found yesterday morning by a staff member at the Sun Residence apartment, who is identified as I Gede Yoga Saputra.

Yoga heard cries for help, and had found her lying on the ground when he went to check the source of the noise. Hasegawa was still conscious when she was found, Yoga said.

“She was fair-skinned, and there were red marks on her neck as if she was just strangled,” Yoga told Kompas.com.

Hasegawa was then rushed to the hospital, and Yoga reported the matter to the police.

Authorities have gotten hold of surveillance cameras from the apartment and are still waiting to take statements from the victim, who reportedly fractured her neck in the incident.
