Andrei Kovalenka, a Russian drug convict who is reportedly on Interpol’s red notice list, will be deported from Indonesia today, after he previously made headlines in the country for evading authorities.

Jamaruli Manihuruk, Head of the Bali office for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, said at a press conference this morning that Kovalenka, who is also known by his alias Andrew Ayer, will be escorted by officials from Interpol Russia’s National Central Bureau (NCB) on his journey back to Moscow.

A search on Interpol’s public red notice list does not reveal anyone with his name. However, it should be noted that the majority of red notices are restricted to law enforcement use only, according to Interpol’s website.

Kovalenka was put on a flight to Jakarta from Denpasar earlier this afternoon, and will be transiting in Singapore before flying back to Russia.

Meanwhile, Ekaterina Trubkina, who is reportedly Kovalenka’s wife and had assisted in his escape last month, was deported from Indonesia on Sunday.

The couple managed to hide for almost two weeks, before they were finally arrested in North Kuta on Feb. 24. Kovalenka previously served time in Kerobokan Prison for a narcotics case, and escaped from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office on Feb. 11 upon completing his sentence.
