Working to curb illegal parking in Klungkung, East Bali, the regency has been cracking down hard on those parking outside the lines—yes, apparently that does matter in Bali where you can so often see people parked in all different directions on the sidewalk.
At least 10 vehicles were netted, with two motorbikes getting padlocked on Tuesday, local reports said.
The owners of these improperly parked vehicles will be subjected to hearings for their minor offenses in Klungkung’s district court, Semarapura.
“We’ve already posted notes on the vehicle, so the owners will come find us to open the lock,” Nyoman Sucitra, head of Klungkung Police’s Civil Service Unit told Nusa Bali.
The target of the operation was on Klungkung’s Jalan Untung Surapati. The goal was to mainly go after those parked on the sidewalk, in order provide a sense of security and comfort to pedestrians, Sucitra said.
