If something doesn’t change, Tabanan will experience water supply crisis in 5 years: PDAM

Tabanan needs to do something about its water supply or else the Bali regency can expect a serious shortage problem in five years, according to municipal tap water company PDAM.

“It must be a serious concern, we hope that the local government can immediately address the existing conditions. If not, then a water availability crisis should be feared in the next five years in Tabanan,” PDAM Tabanan director Ida Bagus Oka Sudana told Tribun Bali on Monday.

Sudana explained construction for a dam has been planned in Megati, East Selemadeg, Tabanan, with the budget coming only from the central government. But apparently because of the land acquisition process, the province could divert development to another regency, to Bukian, Badung.

“If it happens like that, Tabanan will actually buy water from Badung,” Sudana said.

The current capacity cannot make it past three years, Sudana concluded.
