Human skulls found buried in West Bali

A shocking discovery of four human skulls has been made in Jembrana, West Bali.

Local resident I Ketut Seka, 50, says he was exercising on the coast of Desa Yehembang on Wednesday when all of a sudden, he saw human bones.

After getting in touch with local law enforcement, police came to dig things up, finding four intact human skulls buried one meter deep. One of the skulls reportedly had a gold tooth.

It’s understood that the bones and skulls are from victims of Indonesia’s murky coup plot, the 30 September Movement (Gestapu) in 1965.

Yehembang Village leader Ngurah Gede Aryana told police that a Balinese ceremony had long ago already been held at the site for the purported Gestapu victims and that police should stop their excavation.

Mendoyo Police Chief Commissioner Gusti Agung Sukasana told Tribun Bali that police handed over their findings to traditional village authorities.

To “neutralize” the energy at the site, Aryana says the village will hold a Balinese Hindu cleansing ceremony and will again give the remains a proper burial.

According to Aryana, these bodies were not the only Gestapu victims buried in Yehembang. A total of 40 victims had been buried around the Yehembang coast, he said.
