A German national has been thrown into prison in Bali over the assault of a man outside of a popular Kuta nightclub that resulted in death.

The assault reportedly occurred in front of Paddy’s Club on Jl. Legian on March 21, at approximately 1 am.

GL, 21, was arrested two days after the incident, police told reporters.

“The suspect beat the victim, (resulting in) death,” Kuta Police Commissioner I Wayan Sumara said, as quoted by Tribun Bali.

The victim, SD, 49, died while hospitalized, four days after the assault, according to reports.

SD, along with a friend, W, had been out at Paddy’s when W and GL allegedly got into some sort of altercation. Alcohol was allegedly a factor.

“The security guards on duty broke it up. Both sides appeared to make peace with each other and shake hands, so the suspect went back into Paddy’s Club,” Sumara said.

But after that, both SD and W apparently waited for GL in front of Paddy’s and a fight started again.

SD took a hard beating, falling onto the pavement with a bloody nose and went unconscious, according to Tribun Bali.

“(W) then drove the victim to the hospital, but the victim could not be saved because of a serious head injury. After that, we made our arrest,” Sumara said.
