The Bali Provincial Police announced that a Frenchman has been placed on its wanted list for public indecency over an incident that occurred in 2014.

According to the police, in October of that year, the 45-year-old Frenchman, identified by his initials JAG, hugged his coworker, identified only as 38-year-old Sarah, during a company trip to Bali.

At the time, the two were taking part in a team building exercise, in which they were made to dance in front of their colleagues. Police said that without Sarah’s consent, JAG hugged her from behind while they were dancing (essentially grinding her), which really upset her.

Sarah filed a report against JAG in June 2015, but police have been unable to question him as he had already resigned from the Jakarta-based company and possibly left the country by the time the investigation began.

“[JAG] is suspected of violating article 281 of the Criminal Code by deliberately committing an act of public indecency,” Commissioner I Wayan Nuriata, who heads a General Crimes Investigation unit at the Bali Police, told Kompas yesterday.

The Bali Police say they don’t know JAG’s current whereabouts, so they have asked for assistance from Interpol in trying to locate the Frenchman.

Under Indonesia’s Criminal Code, public indecency is a crime punishable by up to two years and eight months in prison.
